Mother mummifies her dead son's body in alcohol for 18 years

  • Tsiuri Kvaratskhelia mummified Joni Bakaradze when he died 18 years ago
  • She wraps his corpse in sheets dipped in alcohol to keep it from decay
  • He's received a change of clothes every birthday until decay made too hard
  • She says: 'He wanted son to see him that way. The kid started to love him'

  • A mother whose son died 18 years ago pickled him in alcohol and stashed his corpse in the basement where she has cared for him ever since... all so his son can learn to love him.

Tsiuri Kvaratskhelia keeps Joni Bakaradze's body entombed in a wooden coffin beneath the family home in Georgia, eastern Europe.

But despite having died in 1995, the 22-year-old has remained almost perfectly mummified, thanks to his mother's constant love and attention.

And every year on his birthday she has even given him a change of clothes - until four years ago when decay finally made the feat impossible.

Photo of the Week - brain-eating amoeba

A microscopic view of the brain-eating amoeba known as Naegleria fowleri reveals a trio of feeding structures, twisted into a macabre clown-face. The parasitic organism – which lives in warm bodies of fresh water – has infected 128 people since 1962. Only one has survived.

Beer Brewed with Actual Beard Hair Exists (FoodBeast)

Beard Beer, sounds like a bro’s choice of brew right? Maybe, if you’re into beer literally brewed from beard yeast.
Created by Rogue Ales, Brewmaster John Maier came up with the idea on a whim. Just for funsies one day, Maier extracted yeast from his very own beard to produce a sweet, distinct ale, or “Beard Beer.”
Available to order online, the product description helps to clarify any misconceptions, just in case you thought things were getting a little too hairy.
It’s here! Our latest brew dedicated to Beards, Beard Beer is brewed with a yeast created from Brewmaster John Maier’s Beard. No Need to freak out, Brewers have used wild yeasts in beer making for centuries. John has had the same Old Growth Beard since 1983 and for over 15,000 brews, so it is no great surprise that a natural yeast ideal for brewing was discovered in his beard.
What does Beard Beer taste like? Try it, we think you’ll be surprised…
I’m not too sure I’m into those kinds of surprises.
Just to clarify, this isn’t a “shake due to settling” situation, and the brew doesn’t have any wild hairs floating around in it. Whew, that makes it all better, right?

In 1924 A Dog Was Sentenced To Life In Prison (BuzzFeed)

A black lab named “Pep” was sentenced to life without parole by Pennsylvania Governor Gifford Pinchot for reportedly killing his wife’s favorite cat.

    Daily Mail has more:

He was known as the Pennsylvania cat-murderer, a vicious hound sentenced to life imprisonment at Eastern State Penitentiary for the grisly killing of the governor's moggie.

In his prison mugshot from 1924, he is seen with ears drooping backwards, an identification number hanging form around his neck looking decisively guilty.

According to newspapers stories at the time, Pep the Black Labrador attacked and killed a cat belonging to the wife of Pennsylvania's then governor Gifford Pinchot.

Showing absolutely no remorse for his despicable crimes, Pep was sent down for life with no chance of parole

The account of him killing the cat was entirely fictitious, made up by a newspaper reporter taking a touch more than his fair share of journalistic licence.

But he was framed. Pep was actually entirely innocent, and his actual offence was nothing more serious than chewing the cushions of the sofa on the governor's front porch.

The editor loved the story as it was frequently reprinted bearing the mugshot picture.

Governor Pinchot's son would later recall how his father was inundated with 'absolutely thousands of letters' about Pep and his prison sentence.

BEER MADE FROM ELEPHANT POOP SELLS OUT IMMEDIATELY (GUISM)

"You’ve likely heard of coffee made from beans semi-digested by cats, but the beer industry wanted in on the action as well. Instead of cats, however, Sankt Gallen Brewery used beans found in elephant poop to create Un, Kono Kuro.
Forget the weird fruits, obscure extracts, and other questionable ingredients brewers have used in the past. This tops the list of weirdest ingredients.  It’s somehow even more odd than Wynkoop using actual bull testicles. They’re so proud of the process that they actually put a picture of an elephant taking a dump on the label. So how does it taste? As with many seemingly ridiculous ideas, it somehow worked out well."

Dog Owners Dress Up Their Posh Pooches With 'Tattoos' (DNAinfo)

    UPPER EAST SIDE

"It's a tale of lady and the tramp stamp.

Owners of fashion-forward fidos in Manhattan's toniest neighborhood are starting to beg groomers for temporary tattoos — reflecting a burgeoning international interest in dog body art, industry insiders tell DNAinfo.com New York.

And the key player turning on tail waggers' masters to the idea is Jorge Bendersky, a celebrity dog groomer whose clientele hails mainly from the Upper East Side. The tattoos are especially popular among owners of short-haired dogs, he explained.

"In the summer, they cut the dogs' hair short, so you've got to supplement the glamour," he said. "Having no hair is no excuse not to be glamorous."

Joanie Pelzer, who doesn't typically get many opportunities to style her 8-year-old Chihuahua Hubbell's minimal mane, agreed. She knew Bendersky through friends, and said she was floored by the idea when he first pitched it to her.

Now, she's hooked and wants more.

"I thought it was nuts. I had never heard of it before," Pelzer said. "But he's totally creative and I thought, 'It's got to be interesting.'"
